Media Monday #2 – Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Reviews Out, Will Smith to Play Genie, Another Season of The X-Files announced, and Fate of the Furious about to hit $1 Billion US.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 just got released internationally and the reviews are mixed to positive. One consensus is that it is not as good as the first one.

This seems to be the trend with Marvel movies as generally their sequels are not as good as the original, this was evident with Ironman 2, Thor: The Dark World and Avengers Age of Ultron, the exception being Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This does not bode well for the Upcoming Antman and the Wasp but then again I didn’t hate Age of Ultron.

The mixed reviews give me hope since I am hoping to see the movie next weekend and don’t want it to be a disappointment. Then again reviewers gave Fate of the Furious mixed reviews and that movie has blown the roof off the box office, I enjoyed the hell out of that movie as I said in my review. Still excited to it though; hoping to have fun.

Will Smith is rumored to0 being cast as the Genie in Disney’s live action adaptation of the 1992 animated Aladdin movie. I don’t really have anything to add to that, if there was a live action Aladdin movie before this then there could be some debate as to the choice of actor in its reboot but since this is the first one I’m willing to wait and see.

X Files has been renewed for yet another season. Now this is a pleasant surprise as I really did enjoy the recent 6 part season that they released. Mulder and Sully were not actually part of my childhood but they were part of the background of my childhood! I never really watched an episode because when it aired I was too small to really understand the plot but I still remember that creepy music playing in the title card. Looking forward to whare they take this season.

And finally the Fate of the Furious is about to cross the $1 Billion mark at the box office on its second week showing. It probably already has as I am writing this post! In contrast last year’s Batman V Superman did a total of 872.7 million at the box office this movie already beat it withing two weeks. It is completely wiping the floor with every other movie that’s opened with it. Even Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 probably won’t be able to derail it. Having seen the movie myself I’d say it deserves every cent it gets!

And that’s it for Media Monday #2. I know it’s just news but what can I say? I didn’t get a chance to see anything new this past week except for Fate of the Furious and I’ve already reviewed that here. I promise though that I will try to see something interesting every week and talk about it next Monday. Tomorrow is Tek Tuesday check back in if you want to read about me fanagling my PC with difficulty, follow me to get the latest posts straight away and give a like if you enjoyed this post and I’ll write to you again soon.
